Thinking of becoming a childminder?

Childminders offer high-quality flexible childcare for children of all ages in a home-from-home setting. As a childminder, you will work in your own home, caring for other people’s children. If you love working with children and watching them grow, it could be the ideal  career for you, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

SCMA is working in partnership with Clyde Gateway, Children in Scotland, and Jobs & Business Glasgow to recruit new childminders across the Clyde Gateway area.

SCMA will provide:

1. An invitation to attend an Information Evening on Becoming a Childminder.

2. Assistance and support in becoming a childminder. This includes help with the Care Inspectorate Application Form, Risk Assessment, Fire Safety Assessment, Policies and Procedures and PVG Scheme forms.

3. An SCMA Induction Support Programme which consists of three training courses (two and a half hours for each one) and our Strong Foundations Pack.

4. A Start-Up Grant of up to £200 (to include any home safety adaptations required, fire blanket, stair gate, etc).

5. A placement opportunity with a registered childminder.

6. Financial support to purchase a Membership Support Package (includes public liability insurance, contracts and business aids).

7. Two e-Learning courses: SCMA Child protection in a Childminding Setting and Business Side of Childminding.

8. Two Units within the Complete Childminding Learning Pathway, a Work Based Award.
