Senior Phase

Learners in the Senior Phase (S4-6) will be expected to:

Develop performing skills in solo and/or group settings on their selected instruments or on one instrument and voice to a level specific standard. Through regular practice and reflection they will develop technical and musical performing skills with the opportunity to receive one to one lessons with our experience instrumental instructors.

Create original music using compositional methods and music concepts when composing, arranging or improvising.  Learners will develop a basic understanding of the creative process and the things that influence and inspire the work of musicians and composers.  They will also use music concepts imaginatively in their own music to realise their creative intentions.

Understand the social and cultural factors influencing music and recognise various musical styles and concepts that originate from Scotland and other countries.

Develop knowledge and understanding of music and musical literacy by listening to music and identifying music signs.  Learners will develop the ability to listen to music extracts and identify specific music concepts and styles. They will also identify common music signs and symbols used in music notation.
